Close Encounter

If you haven't already heard, a meteorite crashed into Russia's Urals region. Over a 1,000 people have been reported injured. The footage is pretty crazy to watch. It sounds like it had people in a frenzy. What makes this story even crazier, is that an asteroid is supposed to pass by Earth within the closest range ever recorded- 17, 150 miles today. Apparently, there is no connection to the meteorite, and  scientists say there is no way it will hit earth. Let's hope they are 100% right!

  1. Even if they knew the asterooid MIGHT hit, they wouldn't say a word. People would go bat poop crazy if there was an inkling hitting the earth was a possibility. Pretty funny of them saying this is not connected to the 'other fly by', though - its just a coincidence - NOT!

  2. The music playing in their cars sounds exactly like what I imagined would be playing in a Russian car.

  6. Perhaps I don't understand it but if the energy was close to 20 times the power unleashed in the WW 2 atom bombs was there no EMP? is it because it wasn't an atomic exposion vs an expolsion of another origen?

  7. Indeed.. Something to do with a nuclear explosion creating ionized (electrified) atoms in the atmosphere, versus a piece of rock falling through the sky and getting super-hot and exploding out of sheer pressure-temperature IIRC.
