I do not have a survival retreat and I am stuck in a large city. This means that, at least for a while after TEOTWAWKI, I will be stuck on the move. As such, I need a good workhorse knife that can double as a combat knife, and for that, my SRK fits the bill perfectly. Cold Steel makes good, durable blades and I went for the San Mai III version rather than the AUS 8A version. San Mai III is capable of taking the same abuse (and then some) while maintaining a better edge. This knife works for a variety of purposes, from processing wood to skinning an animal to combat. It is that versatility that will keep me alive on the move, and its durability that will keep me alive when I settle down.
