A few quick bullet points detailing my current viewpoint on how to approach survival. I plan to eventually have a standalone section of the blog detailing our approach/philosophy for newcomers.

• Prepare in moderation; you have a life to live.
• Be practical and realistic.
• Prioritize your preparations based on the most likely events; keep the worst-case in mind.
• Skills trump gear.
• Learn as much as you can; incorporate what works for you, discard everything else.
• Build a team of like-minded survivors.
• Keep a low profile; fly under the radar.
• Full-time retreat living is impractical for most of us; find a compromise that works for you.
• The gear at-hand when trouble strikes is the only gear that matters.
• Have layers of complimentary and redundant gear. These include:
• On-person EDC
• EDC bag
• Vehicle kit
• At-home preps
• Strategically placed caches
