On a related topic, if you haven't read his Monster Hunter or Grimnoir Chronicles series, you really should. They're not 'apocalypse' genre, but they are action-packed, full frontal assaults of fun. Larry is a gun guy - a CHL instructor, 3-gun competitor, former gun shop owner - and all around a brilliantly entertaining writer. I bought an AR upper from Larry back in the day and it's served me well, too.
