Review: Safariland Pocket Holster

While the S&W J-frame snub nose revolver is often hailed as a great pocket pistol, I've found that great pocket holsters for the J-frame can be difficult to find. The J-frame is already on the big size for pocket carry and many of the holsters out there are unnecessarily large, bulky, or push the butt of the revolver up and out of the pocket. If the holster prevents the gun from being carried comfortably and concealed, then what's the point?

The Safariland Model 25 Pocket holster finally solved the problem. I read a recommendation by Mas Ayoob, a guy who knows his stuff, and he was right on the money with this. The holster is made from a stiff leather, with the fuzzy/suede part on the outside and smooth on the inside. It draws easily and the holster stays put in the pocket. Best of all, it is thin and just the right size--no bigger or bulkier than it should be. Concealment is therefore excellent and carry is about as comfortable as you can expect.

If you're looking for a pocket holster for a J-frame or other similar snubbie, this gets the nod from me.
