Most effectual means of enslavement...

[W]hen the resolution of enslaving America was formed in Great Britain, the British Parliament was advised by an artful man, who was governor of Pennsylvania, to disarm the people; that it was the best and most effectual way to enslave them; but that they should not do it openly, but weaken them, and let them sink gradually. . . .

- James Madison, at Virginia's U.S. Constitution ratification convention (June 14, 1788), reported in Elliot, Debates of the Several State Conventions 3:380.

Hmm...sound familiar? Not do it openly? Argue that it's "for the children" or that you don't need big magazines to defend your home? Use the media to brain wash people?

Remember, the 2nd Amendment is not about hunting, it's not about sporting use or shooting skeet. It's about defending your person, property, family and nation against assault, tyranny and oppression.

That assault, tyranny and oppression could come from a group of armed robbers, a mob of people who don't like your religion or the color of your skin, or it could come from the government itself! That's what the 2nd Amendment is about.

Remember, the Bill of Rights does not give us these rights - they are natural, God-given rights. Instead, the Bill of Rights was written to limit the government's ability to infringe upon these natural rights and abuse its powers. From the Preamble:

"The Conventions of a number of the States, having at the time of their adopting the Constitution, expressed a desire, in order to prevent misconstruction or abuse of its powers, that further declaratory and restrictive clauses should be added: And as extending the ground of public confidence in the Government, will best ensure the beneficent ends of its institution."

The Founding Fathers KNEW what they were doing in restricting the powers of the government and preserving the powers of the people -- and the other side knows exactly what they are doing when they chip away and weaken our rights.

The generations before us have let the government take too much already.

But we won't let them take any more. We're the land of the free!

Write your representatives. If you haven't yet, stop cowering in fear and stand up for yourself, your family and your country. Share this with your friends and family. Encourage them to write. Make your voice clear. Freedom isn't free, and sometimes you've got to stand up and do something to protect it!
